The Colorflow Advent Shawl is specially designed for the Wol met Verve Advent Calendar of 2024. The shawl is knit using 24 minis to create a beautiful gradient, but of course, you can also knit it with lots of small scraps or a few larger 100-gram skeins. The pattern is very simple—you knit entirely in garter stitch. The magic lies in the details! By using slipped stitches in a specific pattern, the shawl naturally forms pleats. You can enhance these pleats by washing and shaping the shawl while drying (definitely avoid stretching it as you would with traditional blocking). This technique gives the shawl its distinctive look.
The sample was knit with 24 Wol met Verve Merino Twist Sock minis (20g / 73m), 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon. Of course, you can substitute these with other fingering weight (sock weight) yarns, such as our Simple Sock minis. The sturdier the yarn (e.g., Basic Sock, Simple Sock), the more pronounced the pleats will be.
