DUAL DRIFT (Advent Shawl)

The Dual Drift Advent Shawl is the pattern for our 2025 Advent Calendar: a diagonal triangular shawl with beautiful vertical stripes that seem to dance effortlessly through the fabric. Thanks to a clever combination of colors, a playful and soft gradient emerges that fits perfectly with the rhythm of Advent. The shawl is worked from a single point and slowly grows into a wide, comfortable wrap that feels wonderful to wear. The neat i-cord edge gives the whole piece an elegant, professional finish.
The result? A modern, colorful statement piece that truly shows how special hand-dyed minis can be. An addictive project for the darker days — and a beautiful way to bring all your Advent colors to life.

Materials:
The sample is knitted with 24 Wol met Verve Merino Twist Sock minis (20 g / 73 m, 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon) or 24 Simple Sock minis (20 g / 84 m, 75% wool, 25% nylon).
Other yarn weights, such as DK, are also perfectly suitable for this shawl.

If you prefer knitting with fewer full skeins, you can also use 4 or 5 × 100 g skeins. This may be fingering weight, sport weight, or DK — the pattern works well in any yarn.

If you are using fingering weight, 4 × 100 g is usually enough for a large shawl.
If you prefer a more generous size, I recommend using 5 × 100 g.
The fabric is very stretchy and airy due to the slipped stitches, and it will grow considerably after blocking.
For a DK weight version, using 5 × 100 g skeins is strongly recommended.
