Woollin, a combination of the words Wool and Linen. Heather is the additive used for a mixture of colors, in this case a mixture of white and black wool and linen. This creates these beautiful diffuse colors. Woollin is a yarn that is very suitable for fair isle knitting and therefore a beautiful, hand-dyed alternative to a Shetland yarn. The wool comes from German sheep and the linen comes from France. Together it forms an incredibly beautiful and durable rustic yarn.
According to the spinning mill, this yarn would also be suitable for knitting socks because linen has been added to the yarn. Because no nylon has been added, I expect it to be slightly less strong than our Basic Sock, but it is worth a try so I will definitely do that soon!
