Jacquard Acid Dye

With Jacquard Acid Dyes, you can give wool, silk and other animal fibres your own personal colour. Nylon also takes up the dye, making these dyes suitable for sock yarns containing nylon.

We use Jacquard in our workshops too and enjoy working with these dyes. The concentrated dye powders are available in a wide range of colours, from soft shades to bright, bold colours. You can use them individually or mix them to create your own shades.

Choose from small 14-gram jars and large 226-gram jars. The small jars are ideal for getting started or trying different colours. If you dye regularly or use a lot of a particular colour, a large jar is a practical choice.

All colours in the 14-gram jars have the same price. For the 226-gram jars, the price varies by colour. This is because the raw materials for some colours are considerably more expensive than others. We use one average price for the small jars, while the prices of the large jars reflect these differences in raw material costs. Some colours are therefore noticeably less expensive than others. A higher price does not mean higher quality: the price differences come from the colourants used.

Alongside dye, water and heat, you will need citric acid or vinegar. We prefer citric acid because it is easy to weigh and has no vinegar smell.
